The coffee producers from the town of Piata have an impressive history of taking multiple top positions in the Brazil Cup of Excellence, beginning in 2009 when they won 5 of the top 10 slots, and culminating in 2016 when they won 19 of 24 of the top slots. The cultivation practices and processing techniques used are honed and refined with every harvest, leading to a clean and complex product that hits all of the expected strengths associated with Brazilian coffees, along with some unexpected flavors too. In general, Brazil has a relatively low coffee farming elevation which leads to more low density, full-bodied coffees with mild acidity and more chocolate than fruit. We like pulp-natural process Brazilian coffees because it adds a layer of complexity that builds on the creamy & nutty flavors we expect. |
