The word Mugaga is a portmanteau of Mukore, Gachuku, and Gatina, the names of the original three factories comprising the union. There are now 5 factories in total, and management of the union is composed of nine members from each factory. The region of Nyeri almost seems like it was blessed for growing coffee. The soil is red, volcanic, and fertile, leading to high yields and beautiful flavors, and the rainfall comes in two seasonal waves, allowing for two harvests per year - a fly crop in August and the primary harvest in December and January. |
